About the Artist 2022
Sean Farrell is a nationally recognized and highly collected artist, known for his vivid and luminous oil paintings. With collectors of his paintings throughout the country and in parts of Europe and China, the artist is represented by four galleries in the United States. He has sold nearly 700 paintings and has earned a living from the sales of his work for over 25 years.
To study and evolve his art, the artist traveled extensively throughout Italy and also to other various regions of Europe over attending art school. The artist has studied and learned from the works of many of the great masters in the history of art. His own paintings reveal his affinity for the 17th century Italian and Dutch painters, while still remaining truly unique.
Walk into any gallery in the country where his paintings are displayed, and one will instantly recognize his works on the walls,”
says retired gallery owner Rick Willoughby of the former Willoughby’s Fine Art Gallery, Martha’s Vineyard.
Mr. Farrell’s works are distinctive for their elegant and graceful compositions, his rich jewel-like color, and his masterful use of light”,
says Reggie Levine retired gallery owner of the former Main Street Gallery of Nantucket…who adds,
“His works reveal a master’s touch and a sense of quiet ease.”
Internationally, the artist has exhibited at the Florence Biennale in Florence, Italy. NY ARTS Magazine covered that exhibition and, in their published review, gave the following praise to the works of Sean Farrell:
“Works deserving special attention in this year’s Florence Biennale are Sean Farrell’s exquisitely painted flower and fruit arrangements. Eye-catching with his use of dramatically bold colors mixed with delicate detail in a very modern old-master style.”
And from collectors:
“The portrait piece we commissioned of our three daughters brought tears to my eyes,” –says the mother of the commissioned portrait.
“We’ve been looking for just the right piece for a wall in our living room for two years. When we saw Sean’s piece in the Willoughby Fine Art Gallery, “Limone l‘taliano”, we found just the perfect piece.. just what we were looking for.” -A collector from the finger-lakes region of the USA.
“Sean’s paintings bring such joy to my wife Cathi, we’ve collected 9 of his works.” -Long-time, steady collector of the artist’s works.
“I feel transported back to Italy 🙂 by his work” – from a Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod summertime resident from Italy.
Rome, Florence, Venice, Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Naples, Sicily & Malta have been favorite destinations for the artist. In one of his recent art travel trips, sent to Italy by a Washington DC area collector of his artworks, the artist spent a month painting on location in Cinque Terre and throughout the Ligurian region of Italy. He really enjoyed the light, colors, and the landscape he found in this beautiful region of Italy. Most recently, he visited Venice in the summer of 2019 and again in the Fall of 2021. Italy has always been and always remains a large influence and inspiration in the work of the artist.
